Clădirea art deco a fost construită în 1937 şi este construită din cărămidă - nu este pe lista clădirilor cu riscul seismic şi apartamentul este asigurat pentru întreaga valoare. Apartamentul nostru este la etajul 4 şi există un mic lift în clădire - este doar un apartament la fiecare etaj. De asemenea, suntem unicul apartament care are un garaj şi două camere separate, care se află la mansardă (unde îngrijitorul clădirii locuia pe vremuri). Există un alt spaţiu de depozitare la mansardă şi peste hol faţă de uşa apartamentului. Unul dintre cele mai mari, dacă nu CEL mai mare, atuuri ale apartamentului este minunata şi spaţioasă terasa de 16 m2 (185 sq ft) cu o vedere uimitoare şi deschisă peste acoperişurile oraşului. Suntem extrem de aproape de Universitate, Unirii şi Moşilor, dar când stai pe terasă nu auzi nimic din traficul nebun din Bucureşti. Multe nopţi magice pe această terasă sunt garantate, iar aspectul ei nord-estic înseamnă că există întotdeauna o zonă bună, care este în mod natural umbrită, precum şi cu locurile însorite. Am păstrat cât am putut de multe caracteristici originale, inclusiv parchetul original, uşile interioare şi mânerele uşilor din alamă, nişte gresie în holul de la intrare şi un dulap mare de depozitare încorporat în holul interior. Chiar şi acolo unde am instalat uşi şi ferestre Schüco frumoase, luxoase şi scumpe (!) din aluminiu antracit superb, am păstrat arhitravele din lemn în interior pentru a păstra stilul art deco. Ambele dormitoare au dimensiuni bune, cu mult spaţiu pentru un pat king-size şi un dulap. Există o baie şi o cameră de duş separată, ambele includ duşuri Nebia fantastice şi elegante, care folosesc cu 65% mai puţină apă şi creează un efect magic de baie de aburi. Duşurile sunt completate cu robinete şi armăturile de duş de înaltă calitate pe faianţele frumoase în stilul spaniol de ciment. Am instalat un filtru special de apă de 7 ani pentru toată casa şi apa de la robinet are un gust grozav - nu este nevoie să cumpăraţi apă îmbuteliată sau să înlocuiţi filtrele în fiecare lună. Când am renovat apartamentul, ne-am hotărât să nu reinstalăm gazul şi să optăm pentru un sistem de încălzire integral electric pentru că am avut în vedere impactul ecologic pe termen lung. Apartamentul este prevăzut si cu calorifere metalice de designer in antracit pentru a se potrivi cu ferestrele si uşile interioare. În timpul renovării, am scos tavane false şi am descoperit câteva piese interesante de structură care adaugă un plus de design, şi am izolat şi tavanele înalte din sufragerie şi dormitoare scăzându-le de doar 8 cm - au încă 2,9 m înălţime! The apartment centres around the fantastic living area of two interconnecting rooms like a lounge and a spacious dining room with three doors leading to the outside, one to the large terrace and the others to the other small balconies. The industrial-style kitchen is based on a Japanese cooking island and was custom-designed by us and made by a local metalworker and includes a fabulous American-style side-by-side fridge freezer with a constant supply of readymade ice and cold water. One of the biggest, if not THE biggest, asset of the apartment is the wonderful and spacious roof terrace of 17m2 (185 sq ft) with a stunning and open view across the city's rooftops. We're extremely close to Universitate, Unirii and Moşilor, but when you sit on the terrace, you don't hear anything of the crazy Bucharest traffic. Many magical nights on this terrace are guaranteed, and its North Easterly aspect means there is always a good area that's naturally shady, as well as sunny spots. We retained as many original features as we could, including the parquet floors, internal doors and brass door handles, some floor tiles in the entrance hall and a large built-in storage cupboard in the inner hallway. Even where we've installed beautiful, luxurious and expensive(!) Schüco patio doors and windows in gorgeous anthracite aluminium. We've kept the timber architraves inside to retain the art deco style. Both the bedrooms are good-sized doubles with plenty of room for a king-size bed and a wardrobe. There is a bathroom and a separate shower room, both of which include fantastic and stylish Nebia showers that use 65% less water and create a magical steam room effect. The showers are complemented with high-quality taps and shower valves against a backdrop of beautiful Spanish cement-style tiles. We installed a special 6/7 year water filter for the whole house, and the tap water tastes great - there's no need to buy bottled water or to replace the filters every month. When we refurbished, we decided against gas and to go for an all-electric heating system because we had the long-term ecological impact in mind. It proved very economical with the newly installed Bosch air conditioning that doubles as very energy-efficient heating. All the ugly cables and pipes have been channelled into the walls to retain the look of the rooms. The apartment is also fitted with designer metal radiators in anthracite to match the windows and interior doors. During the renovation, we took out false ceilings and discovered some interesting pieces of structure that add an extra element of design. We also insulated the high ceilings in the living rooms and bedrooms by dropping them just 8cm - they're still 2.9m high! It's been an absolute pleasure living here, but now we're moving back home, and that's why we're selling our fabulous penthouse, and it's time for a new adventure!
